Seane:  I still work with the program. I don’t get in there physically as much as I would like. I’ve been working on a video, and my travel schedule really threw it off for me. I just got a letter from them saying they are using my video. I just love that! It blew my mind to know that, even though I can’t be there, they’re still committed to doing the yoga. I raise money for Children of the Night by teaching women-only classes in the area and doing benefit classes. That’s been very exciting and I’ve been able to get other women in to work with the kids when I can’t be there.

What I found right away is, when you offer space for these children who have been abused so badly, to be touched in an appropriate way, they hunger for it so badly.

The kids would literally line up for a hug when I would get there. It would take ten minutes for hugs, and then another ten minutes when I left. Then I started to offer prayer, but I never called it prayer. I left space for conversation talking about bigger issues. I was allowed to talk about anything I wanted. It was okay with the kids. It didn’t trigger them. I never was told not to do it again. They thought it was very healing.

Edie:  Is there a way that people can make donations to the organization?

Seane:  The website is www.childrenofthenight.org . They have an 85% success rate! It is the most profound program, to create a space for these girls and boys, between the ages of 8 and 17, to be rehabilitated, and go on to the next part of their lives. You can see these little children just flourish.
